Owsley Stanley Remembrance and CD Release Party
Sweetwater Music Hall, Mill Valley, California

Sweetwater Music Hall, Mill Valley, CA
Monday, March 12, 2012
7:00pm until Midnight

One year after Owsley "Bear" Stanley's passing, come to Mill Valley and hear the first of Bear's Sonic Journals Presents: Big Brother & the Holding Company Featuring Janis Joplin Live at the Carousel Ballroom 1968 through a kick-ass single-source sound system the way it is intended to be heard! We'll be remembering Bear with live music, including Big Brother guitarist Sam Andrew and other special musical guests including Terry Haggerty, Scott Law, Lynn Asher, Pete Sears, Lex Rayzon, Tim Hockenberry, Dave Pellicciaro, Paul Revelli, and more.... Signed pre-release CDs will be available, and cover artist Stanley Mouse will be signing special edition commemorative posters. This event is the first fundraiser for the brand new Owsley Stanley Foundation, dedicated to the digitization, preservation, and release of Bear's Sonic Journals, a trove of over a thousand live concert recordings from the heart of the psychedelic era. Donations are encouraged and much appreciated, as we are footing the costs of this shindig ourselves. Sponsored by Meyer Sound and the Owsley Stanley Foundation.

Woodstock, NY

Colony Cafe, Woodstock, NY
Monday, March 12, 2012
7:00pm until 11:00pm

All friends, family, and followers of the late great Owsley Stanley are invited to celebrate his remarkable life, and to be among the first to hear Columbia/Legacy Recordings release, the first of "Bear's Sonic Journals": Big Brother & the Holding Company Featuring Janis Joplin Live at the Carousel Ballroom 1968, Recorded & Produced by Owsley Stanley ("Bear"). Tom Davis of Franken & Davis will be Master of Ceremonies for the evening.

The recording will be played, special guests TBA--musicians and visionary artists-- will perform in the spirit of the psychedelic era.

Owsley Stanley (January 19, 1935 - March 12, 2011) is perhaps best known as the inventor of the Grateful Dead's audio technology culminating in the Wall of Sound. His promotion of LSD was pivotal in the expanding of consciousness in the turbulent sixties. His spirit lives on in art, music, and the hearts of all whose lives were touched, perhaps transformed, by his maverick genius.
